Nick & Aaron

Nick & Aaron, originally uploaded by BissellBlog2.0.

Nicholas and Aaron at the premier of Nick’s documentary film, “The Soul of Genius: Yale, Yalies and the Meaning of Life.” Rich took Aaron to the big premier at Yale and they gave the film two thumbs up. I was not able to attend, but I will hopefully see it soon on DVD.

Here is the official trailer:

Gun Control

Maybe something good can come out of the Virginia Tech Massacre? There is no reason in a civilized society for hand guns. With the exception of law enforcement, the dangers of citizens owning hand guns now out weights the benefits. It’s time we took a fresh look at the antiquated second amendment. In 1997, there were 15,289 murders in the United States, 10,369 were committed with guns. Something is terribly wrong when a 23 year old student with a history of mental illness can walk into a store and buy a gun. There is no doubt in my mind that outlawing hand guns will lower firearm fatalities.

Eric’s Certificate

Eric brought this certificate home from school this week. His class participated in an Art Competition through the Federation for Children with Special Needs. The federation is an organization in Boston for parents of kids with special needs. They focus a lot on educational advocacy. The theme was “Possibilities” and the art work was to represent what the child would like to be when he/she grows up. I haven’t actually seen Eric’s art, but the teacher tells me that he said he wanted to be a soccer player when he growns up! Cute and sad at the same time…
