Eric and Aaron's Roots

I am tracing the ancestors of my twin sons Eric and Aaron BISSELL for their future information, reflection and enjoyment. My maiden name is WINTERKORN. My great grandfather was Joseph WINTERKORN 1874 - 1976. Joseph immigrated to the U.S. around 1906. My maternal ancestors were mostly French Canadian.
My husbands name is Richard Carlton BISSELL. I have been able to trace Richard's family back to John BISSELL who immigrated from England to United States in 1628. Richard's maternal ancestor Thomas STANTON immigrated from England in 1635. Thomas was Interpretor General for the New England Colonies.

• Bissell Ferry Plaque
  Plaque erected by the town of South Windsor for the American Bicentennial celebration to commemorate the construction and operation of the Bissell ferry across the Connecticut river. Although John Bissell originally operated the ferry so that he could graze his cattle on the East side of the river, it very quickly became a very important economic and transportation link between Boston on the East side of the river and Hartford, New Haven and New York on the West side of the river.
